DG VOICE OF NIGERIA ADVOCATES A CHANGE OF ATTITUDE BY MEDIA STAKEHOLDERS TO REVERSE THE SPREAD OF FAKE NEWS.BY YUNUSA ABUGI 
The Director General, Voice of Nigeria Mal. Jibrin Baba Ndace has called for attitudinal change in all stakeholders in the Information Landscape to reverse the rampant cases of fake news flooding the media space. 

He stated this at the Directorate of Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information Media Workshop on the topic "Combating Fake News: Role Stakeholders in Digital Media.  

He took the opportunity to share with participants the place of fact-checking as a critical aspect of our contemporary Information Landscape. 

He continued by highlighting the terms: Fake News, Media Stakeholders, and Digital Media Landscape to shape the perspectives on the discussion. 

He shared with the participants his personal experience as the Chief Press Secretary to Niger State and as an embedded journalist in the fight against insurgency in the North East as well as the documentation of his experience in three books: the trilogy. 
The DG also expressed his desire to use the platforms in Voice of Nigeria to help stem the proliferation of Fake news and particularly support the Nigerian Military. 

 Mal. Ndace then added that Combating Fake News in the Digital Media Landscape requires the effort of all stakeholders to understand the threat, adapt to the evolving Digital Landscape, and a collective fostering of an information environment characterized by accuracy, credibility, and trustworthiness.

He concluded that Combating Fake News in the Digital Media Landscape requires that we engage in checking the sources of information before sharing it with the public. 
Prof Cosmos Eze of the Mass Communication Department, Ahmidu Bello University, Zaria also made a presentation on Fake News: An Impediment to Military Operations at the workshop which was followed by group discussion, questions and answers as well as comments from other guests.
