The Staff of Niger State Ministry of Justice have been tasked on the need to discharge their responsibilities in a professional manner, this call was made by the Solicitor General/Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Barr. Hassana Danlami who in her opening remarks at a two-days workshop organized for some Professional Staff of the Ministry, Members of the Law Reform Commission and staff of the Legal Department of the Niger State House of Assembly.
The Solicitor General/Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Barr. Hassana Danlamistated further stated that as judicial officer saddled with the responsibilities for legislative drafting and alternative dispute resolution, there is need for them to exhibit requisite necessary skills and knowledge that is commensurate with their job status.
She added that, "the skills and knowledge to be acquired from the training will enable the participants carry out their professional and judicial functions effectively". The Solicitor General also commended the Attorney General, Barr. Nasara Danmallam for "being a the pillar for development in the system and above all, an achiever who has been able to bring the Ministry to where it is today.
The training among other things aimed at the enhancement of the capacity of the staff of the Ministry as a means for continuous legal education for the lawyers and other professionals. In addition, the workshop served as an opportunity to deepen the overall understanding and importance of various aspects of the legal drafting techniques and contemporary practices in the Legislative Drafting towards improved judicial service delivery in Niger State.
Also speaking at the opening ceremony, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane commended the organizers of the workshop stating that it will go a long way in making the judicial sector function well in the state. He assured the Ministry of the full support of the Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
The focus of the workshop was on Legislative Drafting and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) under the able leadership and initiative of Barr. Nasara Danmallam, the Attorney General and Honourable Commissioner of Justice, Niger State. The training which commenced on Monday 20th September and ended on Tuesday 21st September, 2021 at the Saftec Hotel, Minna – Niger State.
The workshop ended with the Attorney General commending the Director Legal Drafting and Director Citizen’s Rights, Mediation and Commercial Law for the push and encouragement in seeing the Training through. He appreciated and commended the Resource Persons while enjoining the participants, particularly those from the LRC and the SHA to put what they have learnt to good use in drafting bills and legislations.
