The 6th Campus Journalism Awards will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Cosmopolitan University Hall in Abuja. This year's event, themed "Thriving in the 21st Century Media Landscape," will honor exceptional campus journalists from universities across Nigeria. Mallam Jibrin Ndace, the Director General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), will be the Special Guest of Honour. At the same time, Azubuike Ishiekwene, Senior Vice Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of LEADERSHIP Newspapers, will deliver the keynote address. Prominent figures expected to attend include Comrade Auwal Ibrahim Musa Rafsanjani, Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC); Mallam Mohammed Abu Ibrahim, Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Development Fund; Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation; and Alhaji Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA). This year's awards received 373 entries across 12 categories, with 36 finalists shortlisted. One campus journalist will be named Campus Journalist of the Year, along with 12 other category winners. The winner and first runner-up in the Investigative Journalist category will each receive a cash prize of N200,000. Additionally, Chief Superintendent of Customs Abdullahi Aliyu Maiwada and keynote speaker Azubuike Ishiekwene will be recognized with Honorary Patron Awards. The event promises to be an exciting celebration of campus journalism in Nigeria.
